There is good in the hood ya’ll! Issa Rae opened up shop, a coffee shop that is, in Inglewood, Ca.

Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, located at 170 N. La Brea (and a second location at 4427 W. Slauson Avenue), is a place where writers and creators can work, eat, and play.

Partnering with L.A. natives, Ajay Relan and Yonnie Hagos for this venture, Rae calls it a “safe space for writers.”

She said, “I’ve always wanted a coffee shop in my neighborhood…Coffee shops facilitate productivity in so many ways, they facilitate collaboration. And I personally have done all of my writing in coffee shops. So, it always disappointed me that there weren’t any that were Black-owned or people of color owned in my neighborhood…”
